Rahma Mercy has been and will always be committed to helping our brothers and sisters in Albania and Kosovo and the last 13 years has seen so much being achieved. This work has now brought us to a juncture where we can help the people to help themselves and create a better and more sustainable future for them.

Last year's report introduced what is Rahma Mercy's most ambitious project to date - the construction of the Rahma Academy in Albania. Since then, Rahma is delighted to report that work is underway to realising this important vision. The last 12 months has seen Rahma secure a plot of land, have the designs approved for the academy and the initial building works are now underway.

It is with God's Grace that the work has begun, but there is still a long way for us to go if we are to drastically change and improve the lives of so many needy and worthy communities. Through the Almighty's will, we hope to bring to the Muslims in Albania a multi-purpose facility that will underpin their lives and facilitate bringing their lives on to path that is filled with happiness, education and understanding.

The vision for the Rahma Academy is a centre that is accessible to all those who need it. Whether young or old, the Academy will serve a purpose that will enable people to accelerate their development and progress not only in Deen but socially as well.

Once the Academy is complete it will:

• Bring the important fundamental principles of Islam to everyone within a purpose-built environment.
• Teach local Children in becoming Hifz and will produce home-grown Albanian Ulaama for the very first time.
• Give much needed access to prayer facilities for men, women and children.
• Help the orphans through education to grow and create brighter futures for them and their families.
• Provide skills training and education in Languages, Information Technology and Business
• Be home to a comprehensive and extensive library of resources
• Foster and nurture through the teachings of Islam a much needed community spirit for all the Muslims in the area.
• Help Rahma's volunteers to operate from a secure base in order to maximise the support given to the neediest of people.

The Academy will be incorporate nine storeys, all of which will perform dedicated functions and allow everyone to benefit from.

A tremendous amount of progress has been made and we are fortunate that our supporters have shown such passion in helping to get this project up and running. However, a lot still needs to be done if we are to have this facility fully operational by late 2012/early 2013.

These people really need our help and it cannot be emphasised enough just how revolutionary this project will be to the local people. We humbly urge everyone to donate to this cause as a form of Sadaqah-e-Jariyah and receive endless reward from our Creator.
